What is the future of A.I.
"Meta programming and program synthesis is really the future.
I think as we generalize deep learning and we improve program synthesis, basically machine learning is about creating a program that solves a task automatically. So currently, if you just use gradient descent to do these, then you can solve certain tasks with certain engineering effort. But if you have more sophisticated software synthesis methods, then you can solve so much more general tasks automatically. Basically, we're moving into the terrain where everything will be synthesized by machines. So we have these higher and higher levels off automated feedback loops. Even with what we have today. If we just exploited that and implemented it in a bunch of different areas, that would already be sort of an astronomical amount of impact. But then research is improving as well, and so it’s like you're layering. So I think it's similar to 1992-2010 when “software was eating the world”. The next 20-30 years is going to be about AI eating software (development)."
